If you re-size your images and compress them yourself, before uploading to photobucket.. they won't compress them! Keep it under 1024xX and you are good. (Of course, then you can't blame Photobucket.. right?) lol!

I've about had it with photobucket too. Everything I post from there is NOT sharp. Looking at zenfolio for host and possibly web page

I had the Tamron 90mm but it was recently stolen but I rarely used it preferring to use my 180mm macro. But the 90mm is definitely a sharp lens. I use Photobucket and am very happy with the quality. I downsize a copy of all my images in PSE making the long side 1000 pixels. In doing that I click on the option "bicubic sharper" and my downsized images are noticeably sharper than the originals. The downsized ones are the ones I upload to Photobucket.

I not only resize them to 800-pixels along the long dimension before uploading, but use a function called "Scale in Steps". Instead of resizing a 16-18 mp image down to ½ mp in one step, it can resize it in as many steps as I like, and with a choice of 4 interpolation methods. Usually, that big of a resize I'll do in 10-12 steps.

ok so taking a closer look at how I resize them and following the steps mentioned above. Here is the exact same photo resized correctly first... see any difference??

Yes. The resized-before-upload kept a bit more detail & contrast.

I "export" one hi-rez in LR4 then one sized accordingly for web and mail. Perhaps thats not a correct way of doing it, I'm always open to LR suggestions, tips, and tricks?

i've always wondered why after i posted them here from photobucket they had a hazy or lacklustre finish...thanks for the heads up!!
