Photos NOT OK to edit
Hello all! My name is ian bush currently I am a combat photograher in the marine corps. I am a professional photgrapher and an award winning photographer in the military. I am very knowledgeable aboit all aspects of photography, from studio to action and everything in between. I am especially skilled in using flash indoora and outdoors. So if anyone has any questions please feel free to ask.

Currently I am at marine corps base quantico, but I will be getting out soon and moving to orlando or further south. Hoping to get a job doing photography when I get out and eventualy open my own studio.

Lets see... oh I have been trained and currently do crime scene photography along with the uauall. And if words are randomly miss spelled on here, I am sorry, I am doing this from a phone.

Hope you all accept me and want to be engaged in my threads.

Thanks for your service.

Welcome Ian! ...and I'd especially like to thank you for the comments on using flash.

Hey look everyone... A photographer who uses flash BOTH indoors AND outdoors... and LIKES it! ;-)

(Minor pet peeve is when I read "I prefer natural light" too often in photography comments. I take it as code for "I don't know how to get good results with a flash" and "I'd rather blame the results on the equipment than my lack of experience." Your comments are welcome and refreshing.)

Welcome to the forum. I'm sure you wouldn't be able to post some of the pictures you take for the military (especially the ones from crime scenes!). But if you have any of military vehicles or planes I'd love to see them.

I'll see what I can get that is released for public and try an get it posted up here

Dear Ian,
I mean this in as courteous a way as possible.

I get that you have experience but let me say that expecting to come someplace new and be the world's expert (or at least the site expert) on all things photographic probably isn't going to happen. There are lots of people here with huge amounts of experience and training.

Your reputation here is based on what you can contribute both in the way of words and images, not what you did in the past.

Did Lew wake up on the wrong side of the bed? I didn't get that impression at all from the OP. seemed to me like the OP was just providing an introduction and that he is willing to help. Maybe i am reading it wrong, but Lew's reply seemed a bit uncalled for to me.

First of all, thanks for you service in the military. It is greatly appreciated. Second of all, welcome, I look forward to seeing your posts and perspectives.

I agree. Lew really shouldn't criticize an award winning professional photographer who knows about all aspects of photography - every single aspect. How dare he.

Welcome though.

Reading comprehension is a bit low tonight.

I didn't criticize the new member.
I just suggested that, since he didn't know that many of our members are also quite skilled and experienced themselves, he represent himself as a peer and let his displays of knowledge and skill speak for him.

As a former serviceman, I look forward to seeing his pictures.

Welcome Bush

We have a lot in common. (Sorry LEW)

Why not just welcome him to the site ....without all the comments?? Ian welcome!
