very soft. The focus falls on his hair not his eyes. It's a very cute picture and his expression is good. Did you shoot wide open?

And you chopped off the top of his head, and arms. Did you do that on purpose or accident?

Very nice shot. The shot taken from this angle (looking down) at the subject works for me in this case. Rather than a portrait taken it at from the level of the subject, this gives the feeling that the child is looking up at his parents. The soft focus looks intentional and works (gaussian blur?)

it would have worked if the focus was on the eyes. I don't see how focusing on hair makes a good photo.

I'm not a pro, nor play one on the internet... but the cropping of the top of his head wasn't distracting to me. I agree the shot would be improved if his arm was still in the shot. Perhaps shifting to the left so that the subjects face is in the right 1/3 of the shot. Being shot wide open and his hand being slightly misaligned from his body may cause his hand to have foreground blur adding debt.

You already commented on the focal point. I didn't think it was really necessary for me to revisit that. I still think it's a very nice shot and in me thinking so, does not negate anyone else's opinion. I was mostly trying to convey that the overall soft focus works for me. Fixing the focal point (and the horizontal composition) would make this shot that much better (for me).

I absolutely see the focus error.... quite a helpful tip!! I also agree with the hand being cropped... I will definitely fix this in the future! Also...overall how do you feel about breaking the rule of thirds? I typically like to leave negative space to the left or right and off center my subject. Thank you
