I want to upgrade from my horrible built in flash. Only problem is what is compatible with what? As in what can fit on the hotshoe of a Canon Rebel 2000.

I'm assuming the film Rebel is still the EOS system? How much do you want to spend? 430EX, 580EX, 430EX II, 580EX II?
