What's new

New to forum, new to photography.

Welcome to ThePhotoForum :D !
Two immediate thoughts that spring to mind when I see this photo of yours:
a) Try to avoid using the inbuilt flash of your camera as often (with a tendency towards "always") as you can. In other words: try NEVER to have it flash, as the outcome is not very pretty with a flash so close to the lens.
b) When you photograph children, put yourself on THEIR level, try not to be above them, higher than them, but WITH them. This photo clearly was taken from above...

A third thought that has just entered my mind: although you may very well find his smile lovely and his face very pretty here (which it is, I can see it myself, too), any children's portrait can be so much more engaging for the outside viewer (not mom or dad or granny etc. to this child) when there is "eye-contact", i.e. the child is not looking just SOMEwhere (we know nothing about), but towards US (which means: to the camera in the moment the photo was taken).

Thats some great advice. I'm going to take that all on board.

I had only the camera that day and was still looking through manual and finding the best way to use the settings.

nothing to see.

I joined this forum for one reason, it looked like some of the experienced guys would give good feedback to the guys that arent experienced.

I have asked for a little help and one person has gave some help?

What gives?

I have asked where I could go right? I am asking for help and the only way I can get that is by somebody replying? Mayber tell me what you want to see to give more help?

From what I see is the more experienced photographers are only interested in picking fault with photos that look very good and are asking for critiscm. I know my photos are rubbish and you arent interested??

Not true in the least. This is uncalled for and rude.

This is exactly how I see it. I have very little to none experience with photography and I have a keeen interest in it, I have read a lot of threads and found some great info.

Yet I asked for some tips, pointers and advice and I have just gone down to the bottom of the second page. I have even gone to the extreme of grabbing "understanding exposure" as widely recommened by this forum and no one can take the time to offer any technical advice.

It seemed the only way I could recieve a response was to be abrupt and call for someone to take the time to actually click reply.

Of course it is natural for me to not "want" to upset or be rude to anyone but, I still find it frustrating that no one has taken the time to reply.

It happens, I have posted several threads getting only one reply. If no one replies on your post then let it go. Also in order to see your pictures at full size you need to click on them. Most people on here are very hesitant to click on links so that may be why you didn't receive a lot of critique. Read the sticky post to see how to properly post pictures.

So now I need to be taught how to use forums? And members can't click a mouse button?

Do you know what? I am going to spend the next hour trying to find a new forum. I think its best.

I would like to take the time to thank LaFoto for taking the time to read my post and offer constructive advice.

Members can click a mouse button sure but I was hesitant to click it myself because there are so many viruses and there was a malware scare here a few months ago! Pretty much any forum you go to will be the same if you carry on with that attitude. Yes you need to be taught how to use forums, you're a new member and you're posting pictures wrong, kind of obvious if you ask me.

BS.

I have used forums for a long time just because im new at photography doesn't mean new to the internet?

Im sorry that I had to be rude to you, Im pretty sure in person you are really nice but I wont be treated like an imbecile by anybody.

How do I know it's photobucket? There are pictures posted, I don't know where it's going to go. I was trying to help you get more replies lol.
