I've never seen a Yellow Rumped Warbler before yesterday afternoon and had no idea they are native to this area. Pleasant surprise.

I love those little guys! Also called "Butter Butts" for obvious reasons. :D

You got some quite nice pics of them--they are often so flighty and they move ALL. THE. TIME. so it can be hard to get good close-ups of them sitting still, at least around here. I don't know, maybe up there they're too cold to move as much. :D

Wow--what a gorgeous bird species!!! i am not sure that I have ever seen one of these birds.

Yellow-rumpeds are one of those birds everyone has probably SEEN and very few people know it. They are almost everywhere in North America, at some point during the year. Derrel, they should be arriving in your area soon--Summer is the best time for them in the PNW area.

The thing is, they are small and they move around, a lot. They flit from tree to tree and the chances are, unless you are really out WATCHING for birds, you either won't see these at all, or you'll see them without ever realizing they are anything special.
They are not only beautiful, but can also be highly entertaining, as where you find one, you can generally find quite a few of them.

Well to me they will now always be "butter butts" and it was actually quite warm and partial sun yesterday so he was flitting about. I just got really lucky.

I've seen those up in Williams Lake before, and I got some terrible pictures of them. They move around like crazy, so nice work!
