Hi, I just got myself a Nikon D40 (still the kit lens), here are a few shots from my first day with a nice camera. C&C if you feel like it.

Cute snapshots.
since you are new to photography, it is difficult to CC since so much is involved.
play around until you feel comfortable with the camera and settings and experiment a LOT to see what you can do with your camera and lens.
