New to photography- How are my first few shots?

I'm 16 years old and I just recently discovered the amazing world of photography. I fell in love with it in a matter of days! I borrowed my teachers Olympus camera, took some shots and now the one thing I want for Christmas is a Nikon D 40.

Nice pictures.. Some comments:

1. The Willing Beauty was a beauty, and you seem to have blown that chance...... LOL

2. The pug shots are pretty neat.

3. You did a good job with the sun in several shots-did you do it on purpose using aperture, or were they just lucky?

4. The shot of your sister that you like most, I like, as well.

5. Good luck on the D40 wish. Sounds reasonable to me for a 16 year old. I'd love it if my kids had such an inane hobby to keep them out of trouble.

For someone just walking around to find some subjects, I'd say your photos turned out quite nice.
