New to Photography & need some help

Hi, i have had a Fujifilm Finepix S5000 camera for a while & only recently had a need to use it, mainly for wildlife shots & family holidays & so forth. Anyways, trying to find lenses for this camera is confusing me as not many specifically state for finepix s5000 camera. Anyways, my camera has a adaptor ring AR-FX5 55mm. So i presume this will allow me to fit lenses at 55mm size, however my question is this, does the lens need to specify its for my camera or will it fit as long as its 55mm in size so it will screw onto my adaptor?

Strictly speaking you can't change lenses on your camera; the lens is permanently afixed, but what you can do is add wide-angle, tele, and macro lens adaptors like these (NOT endorsing them, showing as examples only) however they are often not the best quality and can tend to degrade the image, especially around the corners. In answer to your question, as long as the adaptor has a 55mm thread, it should fit your camera.

Your camera does NOT have interchangeable lenses like a DSLR. A 55mm adapter ring would allow you to attach filters to the front of the built in lens.

As others have mentioned, I wouldn't suggest using those 'lenses'. They are gimmicky and will degrade image quality. They might let you do an odd thing here or there, but in the end, you are better off composing the shot differently than using one of those filters.

It's a good camera, and you can take some great shots, but you don't want to add extra stuff to reduce the quality of the images. When we talk about changing lenses on our DSLR cameras, we change the ENTIRE lens, leaving only the shutter and the image sensor (or film, in the case of Film SLR's) behind. Every glass element that the image goes through is changed when we change a lens. This allows each lens, with whatever task it's designed to do (telephoto, portrait lenses, macro lenses, etc.) to have every single piece designed for that purpose, and allows for clear, crisp images. When you start putting one guys design on top of another guys design, with each design intended for another purpose, you end up with a poorer end result.

Well, i know the lens on my camera does not come off, what i meant was a attached lens for example wide angle & extra zoom & so forth that attach to the 55mm adaptor. Sorry if i explained things wrong but i really have no clue about photography & all the lenses & stuff you can use for this purpose. I did find some 55mm lenses that are 55mm & give extra zoom or wide angle & even some that give a tint or filter. One that interested me was one that give a much closer & sharper image for close up photo's of insects & so forth which i have an interest in. I just don't want to spend a decent amount of money on a lens that says is 55mm but does not do anything. All the lenses I have seen don't state for Finepix camera's but for other brands but do specify 55mm.

I do agree, i do love the camera as it was expensive when i purchased a few years ago for around £400 & I'm still learning what each feature does & so forth & the close up function i only recently discovered how to do so i have no problems with what it can do, i was just looking for something that would give me that little bit extra for wide angle shots & better close up shots.

The problem is, like we said, those add on filters are going to degrade your image quality.

If you are okay with that, then go for it. But, if you can avoid using them, you'll be better off.
