I retired from the US military in 2015 after having served 28 years. Over the course of my military career I'd often felt the calling to take my photography beyond taking the occasional weekend snap but was often overcome by the requirements of duty. In February of 2017 I decided to take the plunge so I bought a Canon 5D Mark III and 24-70mm lens and decided to get serious. My ultimate goal would be develop my photography skills and combined them with the skills developed over a lifetime of expeditionary living so that I could make a small living as a conflict/disaster photographer. Who better to capture a soldier's story than a former soldier.
