There is a lot to learn about composing a pleasing image. I find art books on composition the most interesting.

My general advice is to have fun and experiment; treat your camera like a toy. You have 100,000 shutter clicks on your camera before it dies; feel free to use them as quickly as you wish.

Is this true? That most camera's only have a 100,000 click life? And why is this?

Nothing says your camera will die at 100k clicks. But shutters do give out after a while.
