Newbie going on Safari - which camera?

Hello forum!
I'm hoping you can help. I am a fairly new digital photographer - I studied photography in high school but that was moons ago, and fully analog.

I am headed on Safari next week and am debating which camera I should take - I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC-SZ1 point and shoot that I'm very comfortable with. I also just bought a Canon Powershot SX50 - but I have not had any time to learn the camera. A friend of mine suggested that the Panasonic was all I would need, and that it would be the better choice because I'm already comfortable with it. He recommended I return the Canon and just take the Panasonic.

It somehow feels like going on Safari with just a point and shoot is a cop out - but also, i really just care about getting nice pictures and memories of my trip.

Given all of this, any advice on which I should take??

Since you don't have time to learn a new camera, you're probably better off with the one you know. You're right in that taking a point and shoot on a safari is kind of underwhelming but if you just want it for capturing memories it will work fine. Just don't expect to capture the next national geographic cover.

As you are familiar with Panasonic, you could return the SX50 and buy a Panasonic FZ200.
It a bridge that's used fairly regular for nature photography.
