Hi guys! Just joined and wanted to share a few of my first pics after taking a beginners course yesterday. I use a Nikon D3300 with the standard 18-55mm kit lens.

Practicing with apertures and DOF (these were all shot as JPGs and are unedited - the course instructor didn't want us to shoot in RAW as it was too slow to download onto her laptop):

Then playing at home, trying to put into practice everything I learnt...

Welcome!

I think #4 is quite nice. See how we use image numbers here?

BTW: That comment about "downloading RAW files" seems like there is more to the story. When you export to the teacher's computer, how do you do it? When I export, I can choose the file format, size, and compression (if wanted). Does everybody just hand their cameras to the teacher who then downloads the student's files?

Thanks! Yes, note to self, I'll number them in future! :D (Edited original post to add the numbers in!)

We handed our cards to the teacher, one by one, and she downloaded them straight into her image viewing software. She could only go through a certain number of people's images as we were short on time.

From one noob to another, welcome! I like number 4 as well, and I would like 2 a lot more if it were cropped to remove the signage on the wall.

Thanks! Yes, you're right, I should have cropped the signs out. Was so busy trying to get the dof right I completely forgot about them!
