Newborn Photos

Very much a newborn, so of course I couldn't resist picking up the camera. If I recall these were all shot on my 50mm 1.8 with a D90. Love her expression on #2. As with all my photos, I am here to learn so C&C is always appreciated. Thanks for looking!

1- I don't really like how the window is behind the baby like that. Parts of the window are completely blown out whereas other parts you can see the blinds. The baby has some blown out areas of skin as well. Looks like it might be slightly crooked. The compositions isn't working for me. The baby is pretty centered and there is too much extra space IMO.

2- definitely a good move getting closer to the baby! not a good image for black and white. The top part of the baby disappears into the blown out background. You can see the shadows from the blinds of the babies head. There isn't really any black in this black and white.

3- the babies head blends into the background again. I think you needed a bigger depth of field - the blurry blanket in front of the baby is distracting to me. It also needs a little more contrast

4- this one is a nice mom (?) and baby moment. Looks like moms face is very slightly out of focus (hard to tell on my phone). Not sure what aperture you used but maybe trying a smaller one would help. I actually kind of like the editing done on it. Wish the background wasn't so blown out though. Eyes are drawn to the brightest areas - which is the background in all these shots. Try taking them out of the direct window light.
