A good friend recently had a baby and I got to use her sweet little girl as my adorable model. My very first attempt at newborn posing. What do you think?

Too funny! I didn't really love #3 either but it has been most peoples favorite which is why I included it. Thank you for your feedback

Thank you!! #2 was head on crossed arms pose. I just couldn't get that other arm out without waking her. She was sitting in a little hole (beanbag) and draped over a rolled up blanket. I added angle in pp. no composite needed for this pose . I'm actually enrolled in a course now and I'm certain she wouldn't teach unsafe posing.

If you look you can see her other arm/fingers poking out. Her head/neck are fully supported

I think I might like a little less of the OOF blue in the first one, but the picture of the baby is lovely. The third one looks awkward and uncomfortable but it might be somewhat the way there's none of the body showing and whiteness instead.

I'm not sure which one was being referred to; I see baby photography where babies are propped up on their arms which isn't necessarily the best position for a newborn. The type job I've done has been working with infants w/delays and it depends on the child, but the neck strength may not be developed enough yet, so I'd recommend always supporting a newborn infant's head.

Those shots with the kids head on arms are composites or should be. With the parent holding up the child's head and then editing it out in post.

Real nice shots. I would prefer a little more DOF but still really nice. I like 3 best, probably because it reminds me of the type of pro photos popular from when I was a baby. You would get 4 or 5 different highlighted photos like that in a 8 X 10.
