I am very (very) new to photography . . . I have much to learn.

This one was taken with my new D80 and 50mm F/1.8 - cropped/border added in photoshop.

cute pooch. might be better if you would have cropped it so you could see his whole mouth. just my opinion.

Always nice to see another Edmontonian around here.

I this photo, I think that the depth of field (DOF) is too shallow. The eye seems to be sharp but the nose is not in focus. Sometimes this is a nice effect, sometimes not. In this case, I would like to see the nose and the eyes in sharp focus.

To do that, you would need to use a smaller aperture, which would be a larger F number.

If I remember correctly I had the aperture at 1.8 in that shot so that would explain it.

I'll try another and see if I can improve fix that.
