News/Reminder: D600 Shutter Replacement Ending

thumbs down. I realize there's not many D600s floating around still, but they built a flawed product and offered a fix -- to just end that is kinda ridiculous. But I'm also assuming no one is actually using it anymore.

Actually, I have 3 Nikon bodies: a D4, a D800, and a D600. I should probably hustle and get my D600 traded in to take advantage of this.

I won't tell my 3 D600s you said that. :048:

I meant "unserviced D600s."

Nikon just wants an unmarked grave for the D600 and the grief it caused.

A full contingent of Nikon D7000s will perform the pallbearer duties...

Well, just a quick update on things. I mailed my D600 in (free shipping), got it back yesterday and have yet to test it. I wasn't given a new D610. But they did replace a whole bunch of stuff (replaced the grip, replaced the shutter of course, about 10 other checks and approvals for things like focus and sensor accuracy). So it's mostly like I have a new D600. Very quick turnaround. I'll repost once I get a chance to check it for performance (especially on oil drops and the shutter).

Does Nikon Cover shutter replacements for second hand owners as well or only to the Original buyers?

they don't care about the owner.

Yep. My D600 was used and out of warranty when I bought it. When I submitted it, I didn't have to show proof of purchase or any of that stuff you'd usually need to do for a warranty repair. Braineack's original thread on this was very detailed, helpful and correct on the process.

I just ordered a D600 Condition rated 9 this morning $399.00, someone beat me to the 9+ for a little more money. Will see when I take delivery the actual condition and shutter.Used B&H as I always do and so far the used ratings have been pretty accurate.

The Nikon return site asks you to first type in the serial # to determine if it's eligible for a return. I assume you'd be ineligible if it's already been serviced or it's a gray market body? But in any case, unless your "new" D600 has a really low shutter count, I think it's worth sending it in just to get the service and repairs.
