News/Reminder: D600 Shutter Replacement Ending

If it's already been serviced, and starts to spew oil again, they replace it.

But running out of time. Lol

I will take it out right away and click away see what happens. My biggest concern is the rest of functions of the camera and the condition of minor scuffs or scratches but otherwise very Clean.Depends on who is grading the condition, some people can be over optimistic.

The optimal test would be to put it on a tripod (so it's rock steady) and first shoot against a white wall, then against a solid black background. Then enlarge and see if you see what look like little dust specks irregularly scattered around the photo. Frankly, my spotting was so small and inconsistent that I probably wouldn't have bothered with this except the replacement was free.

mine looked like this:

then this a year later after the shutter replacement:

this is what got my used d600 turned into a New d610.

yeah that is pretty nasty. When I had the D7200 brand new after maybe a 1000 shots give or take I noticed what looked like water liquid stans in the Blue sky always in the same spot it was not dust.I had to wet clean it with some decent pressure to remove it with the swab but then had streaks had to clean the streaks but after that is was spotless and never had a problem after that.My now D7500 two yrs of ownership about 40,000 clicks and still no cleaning required. anyways I am in CT to NY It will be back overnight if I have to use the service.I have plenty of time to get it in.

Well here it is guys, I just received my used D600 a 2 pm but had to wait a bit for some juice to the battery, it was in the camera already but almost completely dead. Ok for condition wise that was rated a 9 and not a single scuff, or scratch to be found, even under bright lighting close inspection,It is a easy mint minus the missing rubber grommet where it connects to grip.Picture of white wall 50mm 1.8G F/16 and now I am confused if I should send it in to replace the shutter or don't bother. I see a few marks on the Sensor both nothing serious.

First, also try against a black wall and see if anything jumps out at you.

Second, put the serial # in to the database. If they tell you it's already been repaired, you might not want to go to the trouble of sending it in. But my feeling is: you go without it for about 10 days. They replace the shutter, anything else on the exterior that is worn, give it a check up, and make sure the firmware is up-todate. I don't see any loss on your part (other than being without it for 10 days).

Yes you are so right,I have nothing to lose plus I have my D7500 to shoot with while I wait plus as you said with your D600 the checked and made any adjustments back to factory specs but so far body is in great shape and I went thru every function of the Camera is responding as it should.Going to send it off tomorrow morning.I ran the number already comes back as it qualify for the service shutter replacement so I doubt it was changed.

Charge batteries, shot continually for a few hours...

Yep. When I noticed to spotting, it was inconsistent--not on every or even most shots. But it would stand out when shooting in to bright light or a bright background.

Well it really don't look like I am flinging crud but I just sent it off this morning after a 5 day run with it at least a inspection and or cleaning will be done.I had a heck of a time letting it go, the UPS customer service lady nearly had to pry the box from my hands.
