News videos drive me crazy

I like to read the news and the tsunami of videos, often pointless, that overwhelm news sites just drives me nuts.
90% of the time, the video is 1% content and 99% filler.

I tend to stick to text heavy sites like NYTimes.

Is it that news sites are aiming at people who can't read or that need to have their interest totally engaged?
I have no idea but it's a total strikeout with me.

I have long since given up on the "news" channels. Biased, shoddy reporting filled with arrogant talking heads.

The death knell was when I would see celebrity news filling large amounts of real estate and the world/real issues were buried.

We live in a 140 character or less, 6 second video culture. No one looks past the headlines to form an opinion.

Indeed.

What is sad is when people tend to stick with their opinion being correct even when presented with hard evidence to the contrary. Or worse yet when they form all their opinions based on what political party/religion/group they belong to without forming their own opinion.

This is why I share no affiliations with any organized group.
