Night cityscape photography

I own a Canon EOS Rebel t3i with a 10-22mm UWA lens. I'm interested in night photography, but I'm still a beginner. I'm going to Las Vegas in a couple months, so I hope to learn as much as I can before I go.
Anyone wanna help me out?

A little more detail would help us help you... what specifically do you want to achieve? Can you post some links (links, NOT images) of the type of shot you'd like to achieve? Do you own a tripod?

As mentioned, tripod and practice. Get a big memory card and just try different things. Start on shutter priority (Tv) and try different speeds to get the effect you want. Try changing ISO (higher = brighter = more noise, graininess). Then try full manual to adjust apeture and you will gain control over depth of field. Practice practice practice!

Use a tripod, or at the very least put your camera on something stable if your exposure is long.

Ideally you would need a tripod and a cable release with a timer built in, or some way to time the shot, as many night scenes require an exposure longer than 30 seconds which is the cameras max.
Some good tips:
Shoot directly after sunset, as the city lights will be bright, but the sky retains its blue colour, rather than a light-pollution orange.
Shoot with a high f-stop (16-22+) which will give you a pleasing star burst effects from point lights sources (eg street lamps etc) depending on the lens.
Check the weather closely, dress correctly. Clear nights are ideal, but clouds aren't a deal breaker as they can create a nice movement on long exposure shots.
