I just got back from grabbing these pics... it's BRUTALLY cold out there tonight... below zero. But I like the result. :) What do you think?

I really like that second image !
How did you expose that ? It looks so light and open in the foreground.

Thanks.

I had the camera set to aperture priority with the following settings:

Tv: 3.2
Av: 6.3
ISO: 800
WB: tungsten

That's all natural, no PP.

tv3.2 is that 3.2 seconds ? That would explain all the light :-))

Thanks for posting your settings.

what do Av and Tv stand for? I know Av is used for Aperture Priority, but then Tv is for shutter priority, right? If that's the case, I question what the A stands for in Av?

The a stands for aperture. The first is a little underexposed, if you shot raw, you could boost it. I like the second though.

I really love how the trees in the foreground or so bright. really nice!
every time i go outside in my neighborhood to take pictures I cant help but feel odd. I have to look every direction to see if someone's looking and then ill go inside. I feel weird hahah

Tv = Time Value
Av = Aperture Value

I did that on purpose, I wanted the attention to be on the glowing trees and not so much in the details of the houses. I think some creative cropping would help accent this.

I'm sure I looked funny... driving around with a camera and tripod quickly looking out of every window in my car as if someone were chasing me. :)

Not to mention it was below zero last night here and people have to think someone is play goofy to be sitting out in that staring at trees. :)
