This is too all you "Micky-Fickys" out there that might be takin night club pixs...
Currently I have a Canon 17-40 L Lens, but I do not think its great for low light conditions. I am also using a 430EXII with a Gary BongWater Lightsphere....My question to you all, do you think I should pick up a Tammy 17-50 v2.8 lens for this type of work, or do you suggest something else? My budget is about 7 c-notes (700 american dollars).... Also for all you peeps out there about to say to use a 50 mm f1.4, I have attempted this, but I have very limited room to move around....

Keep what you have, you don't need anything faster than f/4 to take a snap of people in a club if you're using flash.

I own the 17-50 Tamron f2.8. Very nice and sharp. Pretty good for low light but in a nightclub it might not be long enough. I'd rather have the 24-70 f2.8 Canon lens. Much more dollars, though.

I think I will just buy the Tamron for now and save up my chips for the 24-70 f2.8... I heard that the Tamron is not tack sharp until you hit f4 or so.. When are you seeing your pics sharp (f stop wise)

a 50mm F1.8 will do the trick just dont be afraid to move around and get right in there I have used this setup in very dark seedy bars for metal shows and the like and have gotten some amazing shots u just have to get right up on what your shooting and not be shy about.

I agree with you, but damn it sucks when you have a large group and it needs to be a wide shot... awsum lens, but especially when its a crowded club.
