nikkor 18-200mm vs 35mm + 70-300mm???

I would rather buy a used 16-85 + 70-300 on ebay. You would probably use 16-85 most of the time and only swap for 70-300 if you need a longe reach. I think this combo will give you a slightly better IQ and a slightly (but importantly) wider range on both ends than 18-200.
