1 Year old Nikon D3000 with 18-55 AF-S lens and shutter count of 2,785 for $275. Is that a good deal?

Or would you rather have a Sony Nex-3 with 18-55 for $460

Id jump on that deal, I just sold my D3000 for 475.

How did you like it? What, if any, were the problems with the camera that made you sell it?

It lacked a few features that I found out that I wanted. Auto Bracketing and the internal focus motor mainly. It is a great camera though

I would not purchase a D3000. It does not even have an APC style sensor like the other DSLRs. The sensor is a CCD style as used in a point and shot or four-thirds type camera. Save the money and keep putting the funds away to get a D5000 if you want a Nikon. Also check out Canon's T1i as well. Great entry level camera with room to grow.

APS-C is a sensor size, not a sensor style and the D3000 CCD sensor is the same size as all other Nikon APS-C size sensors.

CCD has advantages over CMOS sensor types, and CMOS has some advantages over CCD.

For Nikon the big plus is - it costs less to make CMOS image sensors than it does to make CCD image sensors.
