Nikon D3x and D10: Two new Full Frame?

Anything that has its source on DP Review Forums is effectively useless. May as well ask your mom. Those guys (and it's just guys) spend all day talking about gear, and never taking a picture. It's like 12-year olds talking about horse power and top speed on cars - totally useless information, based on assumptions, rumors, and fun media articles.

Leica R10 will beat all.

Yeah.... right.

No they spend time talking about gear that doesn't exist.

I remember someone actually went to the effort to photoshop together a "product image" of what he claimed was a 50mm f/1.2 VR prime with AF-S ED coating the works.

Then someone pointed out he stole the front element off one picture, the VR segment of another, etc etc.

Don't get me wrong Full frame is coming to a camera soon, but DP is not the place to rely on any information.

Totally useless... there were droves of people that sold their 5D's for pennies on the dollar because of a rumor based on absolute nonsense. Coming from car forums to photo forums, I understand that you shouldn't believe 90% of the crap that gets posted. Yes, Nikon is probably planning a prosumer body with a full frame sensor, and it will probably be compatible with the MB-D10 grip. They probably just named it that so it could be cross-compatible with two bodies.

I can't imagine Nikon is going to update the D3 or the D300 this soo I don't think enough people have invested in them for them to update them yet. I am sure a full-frame sensor is in the cards for a good bit of Nikon's upper end cameras but the D300 and the D3 just came out. Besides there are still alot of DX format lenses out there to sell.

Also the DX format is just too convent for telephoto shooters. It is unlikely that this format is going away and Nikon's penchant of having a lean lineup tells me that the midlevel Prosumer will stay in the DX for at least the next couple of years.

Another thing is that 24 MPx is bumping on the unusable for a lot of lenses and we know that Nikon is loath to obsolete their lens lineup. :)

I agree, I imagine that Nikon will always keep a DX format camera in the DXXX lineup for telephoto use and to keep the DX lens sales moving. They really don't have a direct competitor with the 5D, so a new series based on the DXXX body with a full frame makes sense. People are constantly comparing the D3 and the 5D, but they aren't even in the same class at all.

Gizmodo also published a "rumor" that Samsung is entering into the FF game as well.

http://gizmodo.com/379048/samsung-developing-full+frame-pro-dslr

It is being discussed a bit at on pentax forum sites. Whether or not Pentax will get to release a body with the same FF sensor is still up in the air.

I say.. skip the FF DSLR and tell Pentax to get teh 645D project going.
