Nikon D70 kit lens?

Can anyone tell me whether or not he D70 kit lens 18-70mm is worth the extra money, or should I save and buy a quality lens? I mean is it one of those plastic consumer junks or quality?

It's very nice for it's price. It has the USM so it's as quiet of a lens as you can get. It's much better than Sigma's lens in the same class.
