Nikon D7000 VS. Canon 7D

Hello, I've been interested for a while in the Nikon D7000 and the Canon 7D. I like both of the cameras a lot, but I'm finding it hard to choose which one I should get. I will use this mostly for video, as it is cheaper than a camcorder, has a nice low-depth of field, and has a better low light situation.And I know that i'll end up paying at least $500 for accesories, which is ok. I've heard some say that the Canon is better than the Nikon for video. It does have 60fps recording which is kind of nice. However the Nikon is a little bit cheaper. (only by a little bit.) which do you recommend? Also, does anyone know if either of these will be replaced by the end of the year? Thanks in advance.

To use either of the 2 DSLR cameras effectively for video you will need to spend more money on video accessories - remote microphone(s), follow focus, tripod and video head, rear LCD hood, etc.

The Canon 7D is a prosumer grade camera, while the Nikon D7000 is Nikon's best entry-level camera.

The 7D has been out about a year longer than the D7000.

I own the D7000 and I use the 7D every day for work. The 7D feels more hefty and is perhaps more 'stable' to handle for video. I still prefer Nikon's layout and controls, and I like their glass selection a bit better. However the image quality differences between these two bodies, especially for video are extremely minuscule, if they really exist at all. I use the 7D around 20 hours per week and I probably average somewhere in the neighborhood of 2000 actuations per week on it. Use the D7000 around 10-15 hours per week and probably shoot around 150 actuations per week on it. If I was picking between the two and money was no concern, I'd probably get the D7000 again. Though I could be 100% happy shooting nothing but the 7D as well.

Yah i know that i'll definately have to get some accesories. I hope that it isn't replaced soon. I've heard some rumors of a Nikon D600 coming out in fall. Do you know anything about that?

The rumored Nikon D600 would be a full frame camera and wouldn't really be a replacement for the D7000.

Oh, i've heard it might be pretty expensive too for just the body.

It is rumored to be more expensive than the D7000, but substantially cheaper than any comparable full frame option.

Yep the D600 numbers I see flying around are the $1500 ones I see floating around everywhere.
And pretty much accept that it will come in under $2k for it.

If you're just using it for video, I'd get a T4i. The 7D/60D/T3i all have the same sensor, and it is getting dated. The real differences are build quality and autofocus, which you shouldn't be using while shooting video.

Well for what it is at $2000 is a good price, but that's the body only. It would eventually add up to more than $3000 which is a little bit expensive for me. The d7000 and 7D would cost me a little over $2000 which is good.
