Yoy should ask yourself if u really need ttl, because you can get a great flash without it for around $50-70.

Which do you recommend?

I love my $70 Yongnuo 465 TTL. I may need more features in the future but for just bouncing flash indoors and adding some fill outside it works perfectly and didn't cost me a zillion dollars. If i ever need to upgrade i'll just sell it on craigslist for $50 and buy a more expensive flash. The user interface couldn't get any easier. One dial - click on = ttl - further rotate for manual adjustment... easy

Sounds good. I'll most likely try something more along these lines.

The SB-28 has the same power as your Metz Mecablitz A 50 AF-1 and can be picked up for 1/3-1/2 the price. I picked up 3 that were practically brand new for $80/ea. Just sayin'
Thank you so much!!! I had not looked at the zoom setting of the flash reflector that had been used to measure the guide number. Actually it looked strange that a 3rd party, cheaper flash was more powerful than the Nikons.

Thanks again, I'll need to revise my shopping plans.

This forum is cool, you learn a lot!
