Well, I did get it locally. I live my summers (home home) in Ohio. A store in Canton which is real close to me had 2 of them so I purchased one. I am not sure if they have any in the Rochester area. It set me back just under $1800 after tax. B&H were sold out and I like to purchase locally because it keeps the money in the area. I figure as a photographer I work locally so why not buy locally?

I got mine for Christmas. Love it.

Only thing is... I am having trouble with the ceasing to function at different
points during its use. Usually, if I let the camera go to "sleep" it doesn't seem
to wake the lens up until it feels good and ready. So I always have to be ready
to manually focus when it happens.

I have not had problems with that. As I am sure you experienced when you first got yours, there is not a whole lot of time between pictures to let the camera fall asleep because you are just excited to take them.

Castrol, probably stating the obvious but have you tried to see if the lens is "sleepy" on both the D70 and D200? Doesn't sound like it should be doing that... possibly something that could be fixed in firmware?
