Water was a strange combination of colors today and it didn't make for a pretty post...so they're B&W, which worked.

In my opinion, these are well composed shots but lack in dimension. It's almost as you don't trust your eye and rely on software while converting. Respectfully, I would suggest since your a teacher, shoot these types again with film. Develop and process a print. If I had the talent you had, I would take note of the white edges of the wave to separate the surfer. Also, the shadow in uppermost left of 2nd is distracting...... A tighter crop would also be inviting to the viewer.
