NJ Sunset

Nicely composed! great colors and exposure , love the formation of the rocks. I just wish there was more horizon in the picture

I like it, really dig the composition. The only thing I might have done differently is to cut just a little off the top. Roughly measure from the blue area in the sky to the top of the frame and take off the top 2/3rds of that. The sky is just as powerful and it helps get the horizon off the center. Something like this:

Sorry probably a silly question but would this shot be considered an HDR shot? It appears to have some HDR qualities...or am i totally mistaken?

Begging your indulgence, I think you've got missed potential in that sky:

Raised the contrast overall, but much more so in the sky, and then lightened the sky a bit to bring out the color.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the kind words. I'm really pleased with how this one came out.

To answer the HDR question, it's not. I use NDG filters to even out the exposure.

As far as the color of the sky, that's not really what I saw. I try to capture exactly what I see. Nothing wrong with bumping colors up if you like, but I just prefer to try to capture exactly what I see.

I agree with you keeping the shot as is, and I have to say, having grown up in Toms River this is a beautiful shot of Monmouth Beach.

This one is quite the winner.
