My D90 got a crack in the bottom right portion of the screen, caused by idiocy on my part that I would rather not go through. Assuming Nikon's warranty wont cover it (which I am pretty sure they wont) how much do you all guess it will cost to fix it?

How bad is it, is the lcd ruined? Or can you still see the screen? I say if it doesn't inhibit viewing the screen or the glass falling out, I wouldn't worry about it.

It doesn't interfere yet. However it may be spreading but I am not sure. But even so, can anyone give me an estimate?

Leaving it unfixed wont increase the chances of the camera getting internal damage right?

I don't see how it could. It's not like a short or anything. I cracked the screen on an old sony point and shoot (a decent one too) from leaving it in my car during the winter. Hang in there, maybe you can find a D90 with a broken shutter and you could buy it for parts.

buying broken camera is good for rebuilding old 35mm.

lets say you buy a broken d90 for what? 100$ they are still gonna charge you an arm to swap the screen if yuou cant do it yourself.

i would say, send the camera and get it fixed. 149 i still alot of money but if you cant work around the cracked LCD

^ Fair enough, I was assuming he'd be able to do it himself.

I fail to see how this affects the usefulness and purpose of the camera? How exactly is this affecting your photography.

I have a hammer with some scratches on it, it pounds nails just fine--why fix it??
