noob trying to figure it out C&C please

Just trying to figure things out. I dont have any lighting yet, so these were shot on my bedroom floor with available light. I just used a few things around the house and tried different settings to see what I could come up with.

#1 i like, except the focus goes away towards the top and bottom of the pic

#2 and 3 and kinda blah to me

You need to make some metering decisions. The camera is metering for the white cards in shot #1, which makes everything else too dark. The wider you get, the bigger the average from which your camera draws.

...unless bumping the brightness was a creative choice you made on purpose.

im a noob my self but I kinda like the way #1 looses the focus and really focuses in on the most important thing THE ACE OF SPADES.....#3 and #2 dont really care for

That is one Debauchery filled setup. lol. I agree with the previous poster about your camera metering for the white cards and therefor under exposing the rest of the photo. 3rd one is my favorite, only because I can see it best

Thanks for the replies. I havent quite figured out the whole metering on a different area thing yet, but I'm going to work on it. Come to think of it, I havent figured out a whole lot yet. But I will.

No flatline it wasnt on purpose. Very few of the things I have done so far have been on purpose. Just trial and error.
