Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
OK ther are so many cs5 versions i really have no idea what to get. CS5 extended, premier bla bla bla. I need to mention i can get the student version. another question is there a difference on the student version verses the regular version. Help please

So waht exactly is the extended version

The student version is the extended version. This contains a bunch of tools that photographers don't normally need, 3D drawing, graphic design, etc. The student version is a fully-functional, complete edition, the only limitation is that it cannot be upgraded, but, since the cost of a student full version is about the same as a regular version upgrade only, it doesn't much matter.

Ya i think it 299 or someting.

Isn't premiere a video editing program.

If I'm not mistaken, the fact, that this version can't be upgraded, is just a minor issue. Biggest problem is, that you can't use student version for commercial use. If you'd like to, you need to purchase upgrade to regular version.

What do you mean by commercial use? Does it somehow limit you from professional use?

Unless you are committed to CS5, you should give Lightroom 3 a spin as a 30 day trial.
It gives you almost all you might need for photography without all the extra stuff in CS5.

Just a suggestion

Precisely. Student versions had always such limitation - you had to give them a proof of study + you agreed to their license terms, where was usually stated, that you can use the software solely to help you in the school or something like that, and NOT for professional use. Many licenses expire when you leave the school and you need to either upgrade or cease to use the software. Not sure, if the same applies to photoshop, but I wouldn't be surprised...

Actually i have lightroom 3 and its pretty nice. I want to be able to do a bit more editing, and i thought that if i could get it for 299 them its a awsome deal. I bought the student version Lightroom and they only asked for a e-mail address with .edu at the end thats it. I havent tried to watermark anything maybe that what they mean by commercial

Another suggestion - why not ...;)

The NIK plugins are quite good in my opinion. The plugins work for CS5 and Lightroom 3
I just got Silver Efex Pro 2 and Color Efex Pro 3 on sale last month for $99 ea

Viveza 2 goes on sale 7/16 for $99.00
HDR pro is on sale until 7/15

If you haven't used NIK software and the U-Point technology, you should download the trial version and buy it when it goes on sale.
It's pretty cool. No not CS5, but it's something to try.

Here's a link Precise Selective Photo Editing to the Viveza page with a demo video.

If you like them a lot, you can get the whole set for 299.

Again, just another option in case you weren't aware.

Commercial use of Photoshop CS5 Extended Student Edition (and Lightroom) is permitted in North America, but not the rest of the world.

Photoshop CS5 Extended Student Edition varies from the regular retail version in only 2 ways:
  1. an 80% reduction in cost from $999 full retail cost to only $199 (not $299). Adobe.com Site Requirements
  2. the student Edition EULA only allows installing it on 1 computer, not 2 computers like granted by the full retail version EULA (End User License Agreement).
Upon the release of CS6, if you are still a student you can just buy the Student Edition of it for $199. If you have CS5 Extended Student Edition, are no longer a student and want to upggrade to the non-student edition of CS6, CS7, or CS8 you would only pay the upgrade price, not full retail.

The upgrade price for Extended is currently $349. The upgrade price for just the non-Extended version is currently $299.

You can verify all of this at www.adobe.com
