I am not even sure if I should post this here or in the Landscape forum, but I figured it HAS some nature, so I would post it here. I was driving down from the waterfall, when I saw the light, and I just had to stop to take a pic. I know there is no real subject here, but I just like the scene too much. Please feel free to critique and comment.

THis photo does not have a clear, dominant focal point. The sunburst might be a focal point....so might be the road that leads up the little hill...as I see it, this image needs HEAVY-DUTY image processing, to give it a definite "look". For instance, make it darker in some areas, so that the feeling of late slanting,evening-type light is more prominent. The lower left corner...that entire area is just plain and bland...it needs some modulation of the lighting on all that foliage and plant matter...some burning in would help the shot. The problem is that the lighting is boring, and looks "too bright".

I agree with Derrel. You stated in your original posting that - I know there is no real subject here, but I just like the scene too much. Tell us what you like about it and why, if you can, because to me it is just a snapshot and I suspect that isn't what you had intended. I do find it a little strange that the scene is so well lit, particularly when you are looking into the sun. As you admitted, there is no real subject, but I am of the belief that every image should have a subject, or a "clear dominant focal point". Without it, there is nothing in the image for the viewer to focus their attention on.

Thanks for the reply, guys. What I like about it is that calm feeling I get when I see it. I guess it's the lighting. I was trying to make something the subject, but could not find anything that stuck out other than the sun itself. As for the clear image, it is not photoshop: I just added a bit of saturation, but other than that, it was like this naturally. I think I tried to make the fence the subject, but I dont think it worked quite well. So you guys suggest darkening the lower left? By the way, I lost the oriinal shot (trouble transfering from the SD to the HDD), but here's another pic from that set that's very much like the original, so that you can see the original coloring (as it came out of the camera):
