What's new

Not too sure about this one... C&C Please

I love everything in this shot except the sun. I think it is because my mind expects it to be round.

I think you should also crop the right side of the photo up to the tree. Now there is really nothing going on there.

thats a great image, hope you don't mind if I give it shot in editing, the green tint and curves needed work, I also tried to get the upper right sky a little more equalized in color..its not perfect or anything, but thought I'd give it a try.

I just realized you're from Orangevale, CA! right on, I grew up in orangevale, I used to live off chestnut ave between greenback and pershing...

Absolutely give it a shot. The help is always appreciated. Funny that you grew up here. Im over by Madison and Main. Been here since I was in 3rd grade. Im 26 now lol

You know what's weird on it for me is a> the sun looks too big... like you faked it. and b> the rays of light (can't recall what they're called... derrel?) don't look like they all converge back with the point of origin of the sun.

Did you make the sun bigger????

I made absolutely no modification to the suns or the rays coming off of it. The only editing i did was color and contrast. Let me see if i can find the original before editing

Hm.

Try taking the original and swinging it a little more red, then boost the contrast and swing down the brightness a bit.

right on, I lived out there for ~18 years or so, went to Bella Vista for high school. I don't see too many people who know where orangevale is nowadays....heh small world.

back to the pic, personally I don't find anything wrong with the sun or rays, the distortion to the sun as far as it's size and shape are likely due to the fact that it's near the horizon and heat 'boiling' effect in the atmosphere. its a common thing with astronomy, the moon will appear larger near the horizon, as will other celestial bodies like the sun, etc...I believe the phenominon is called 'moon illustion'...at least when referring to the moon...as far as the light rays, they appear natural in orientation to me...the biggest problem I see is the tint, and the color distortion on the upper right of the image.
