Wow. I always felt like I was incarcerated in high school. But a school that REALLY looks like the GrayBar Motel?

My high school was completely made of cinderblock and had absolutely no windows with steel doors.....

Yes... it was built like a prison. Supposedly more efficient (cooling in hot TX heat) and kept the kids from daydreaming out the windows. Yeh.. um.. idiot design.

The high school the town over was originally built to be a penitentiary but then funding got cut and they stopped the project halfway through, then several years later it was finished as a high school!

It's a huge school, with several cellblocks, er., hallways with classrooms, lined up along one main part of the building.

It's government work! Lowest bidder. Wouldn't surprise me if schools were all meant to be built like prisons. Cheap construction, cheap HVAC, sturdy, etc.
