Number Displays on Viewfinder Question

Hi.
Obviously im a newbie, when i view my viewfinder, i see green digital numbers at the bottom. I also see blinking small dots. Can you guys help me what they are?

I don't know what camera you have but usually its your exposure meter, aperture and shutter speed.

Im using D40 with 50mm 1.8 lens
