Off camera flash makes photod white

Like the title said my pictures are coming out white when I go wireless with my SB-600. I own the D200 where you need the built in flash to be open to use the wireless feature. What could be wrong with my settings? Please help! Thanks!

Your ISO is set too high and the camera is way over-exposed, probably (assuming you're not in manual).

Edit: Give us an example with some settings you used.

I assume you're trying to use the flash in TTL, I suggest make sure the flash and camera both are configured per each of their owner's manuals.

If you are using the flash in manual, I suggest check shutter speed, ISO, and the +/- exposure settings on the system.

OK ... Camera on manual at f/1.8 with a shutter speed of 1/30, ISO 100...?

What was the flash power set to? Or was it on TTL?

Your flash should have some sort of guide number calculator on it...

There are 4 variables - power, aperture, ISO, and distance. If you know 3, it will tell you the other one.

It might not be dead-nuts on the first time, but it will be close.

If your flash doesn't have this feature, you can still figure it out as long as you know the guide number of your flash at the ISO you are using.
