off camera flash

what off camera cords are need to make the sb-600
conect to the d40 i see alot of differnt combinations and im not sure which is right

You will need one of THESE for the camera.
Then a cord like THIS
Then, if the flash has a PC socket, you can plug the cord into it. If not, you will need one of THESE

This will let you fire the flash, off camera. It will be manual control only though. If you want the automatic flash metering, as if the flash was on the camera, you will need something like THIS

Another option for firing the flash would be wireless. You could use something like THIS
It will also mean manual flash control, but it's maybe easier than using cords and adapters.
