Officially a Nikon Shooter!

I just purchased the Nikon D5300 as my first DSLR. I cannot wait to learn the ins and outs of this camera.

I am going out to the country this weekend, and visiting family for 4th of July. I am really looking forward to taking lots of photos. I will be out there for a couple of weeks, so I am really looking forward to it!

I will be rocking my 18-55 VR kit lens, Tamron 70-300, and Nikon 35mm f/1.8g!

I am just ready to learn with this camera! And I am getting an awesome start by having a chance to take tons of photos! Anyways I just am excited, and wanted to share with you guys.

It's a great little camera.
Started with a D3000 years ago, moved to a D5300 when it launched and now I am a proud owner of a D7200...
The D5300 was the big jump in quality, and it's an amazing camera.
You will enjoy.
Now it's time to save money for some quality lenses

In my country, Nikon shooters all have a secret underwear and a free handshake
I guess it depends on where you live...

Nikons are the best (Ill admit Im biased)

You may find that you prefer the 35mm 1.8 over the kit lens for most work. I have all but retired my kit lens in favor of the 35 1.8.

Now for some vintage nikon glass....

Yeah, 30-35 is my preferred focal length. Plus the 35 1.8 is much sharper than the kit. Will most likely be my main lens for awhile

And I retired my 35mm for a sigma 18-35mm 1.8.
Most amazing lens I've ever used.

If you are at an antique store in the near future keep your eyes out for some of the older nikon 50mm manual lenses. Since the F mount has never changed any one of a variety of them will work on your camera (in full manual mode only though). These lenses are really really sharp and can usually be had for super fair prices (its often worth it to buy a body if it has the lens on it). They have made various 1.8 1.4 and the venerable 1.2 50mm (which I scored at an antique store for 60$ but thats a whole different story). The 1.8 and 1.4's are pretty common and I have found them for <40$ on many occasions.

Well while I'm at my family's place, we might actually go antique shopping. That's what they like to do, so I will definitely keep my eye out. Plus I will have to check out that 18-35 siggy.
