WOW!!! You caught a lot of great photos here! I'm jealous. I don't get to see heron too often. They are so few and far between and when I do spot them they are high above flying away.

Nicely captured!

I feel something like envy creeping up inside me ... the only times I've ever seen herons they were either very far away, of flying away, but never was any of them posing (or even EATING) for me! Hmph.
Lovely series.
Yes, I'm envious. :meh:

Herons are pretty common around here, but honestly, I'd only ever seen them far away and/or flying off (ALWAYS in the wrong direction) too until recently. But I have become seriously addicted to bird photography, and since I've just got this 70-300, I'm working on developing my crazy ninja stalking skills. :lmao: Or perhaps I'm just lucky... :D

I find I get luckier the more camo I wear and the more hours I spend standing in one spot doing nothing but waiting...

I'm really enjoying your recent bird shots in this thread and your other ones, SM4Him, thanks for sharing 'em. though I had to vote for bacon in your other thread, just on principles. :D

I really want to go get some better camo for birding sometime, there's a cabellas near me I may have to visit.

Those are great, we get a lot of black crowned night herons down here, this inspires me to get out and try to photo them fishing.

I got a tern eating a fish once but never a heron (a heron eating a fish that is, not a tern eating a heron).

:)

Nice shots Sharon. It looks like you are having a ball with your new found friends.
