oh sweet Carolline

So I had Caroline over on friday for a short shoot. The intentions were to start off as her being innocent and then over the day she would get more punk and edgy. For me she was just sweet. This was the first shot I pulled out and cleaned up a bit, and cropped it diffrently then I normally would. She loved it. I wanted to hear what you guys had to say.

Wow! Very, very nice. I might be tempted to suggest a reflector, or some other means of bringing just a touch more light under her left eye, but damn... This pic is sooo nice the way it is.

I love it .... only thing i could say is that her eye angle looks pressed hard upwards for the apparent tilt of her head.. almost like she was looking over the camera. I think it may have been slightly more impactful if her eyes were a little lower ... just a thought.. love it!

Pretty unorthodox framing on this shot...her eye is crowding the top left edge of the frame, and the right hand side doesn't do much to advance the shot. Her lips are also crowding the bottom of the frame. All in all this is not a very good "look at her".

Darn I was riding a high until you had to smack me back down to reality Derrel lol, For me it was a completly unorthodox framing. most of my framing has been standard stuff. So this was for me pretty wild and out there. I have had a few other people mention the cut off eyebrow, I think im going to go back and recrop it just a little bit bigger then this so her features aren't as far out on the edge. But I still want to keep it somewhat similar. And thinking about cleaning up the blood vessels a bit. something new for me to learn today.

This is an awesome photo, well done, but that was something that crossed my mind as well. May have been even better if her whole head was in the shot. I agree very nice shot and light!

I'll have some shots of her whole head. I took several of her at this type angle. this was just a cropping experiment I guess lol.

This could be a great thread for a "how would you crop this shot?" type of post! I agree about trying to tackle the blood vessel retouching in the one eye...the photo is just so,so sharp and close-up that the blood vessels are revealed pretty well by the lens, in a way that the human eye would not notice, but a lens and camera records faithfully. It'd be interesting to see what other types of crops could be made from a shot with a wider angle of view.

When I origonally started on this I went up to start working on the eyes. then I started to think well she wanted a darker more punk/goth feel to it, so I went back and forth on wether they would add something to the dark mood or wether I should get rid of them. I think in the end I went with keeping them beacause cleaning them up wasn't something I have done yet in my processing so I probalby talked myself out of it. But that is on tomorrow's to do list is to learn how to clean them up nicely.

I think one of the things that drew me to this photo was it being so sharp. used my new 70-200 F/2.8 and I'm finding i'm loving that lens more and more each time.

Now this is a problem. These are two should not be grouped because they dont play well together. Its like mixing jaegermeister and a tilt-a-whirl.

Anyway here is the photo uncropped. Think I went overboard on her eyes. it didn't seem like i was doing that much to them. but looking at them. they seem maybe too white to me. idk?
