Shooting weddings would be great if weddings didn't have brides!

I always had more issues withe MOTHER of the brides... and they were indeed MOTHERS (in a non-maternal sense!) lol!

The last wedding I second'd, the mother of the GROOM held his hand is every single photo he and she were both in. Seriously, leave and cleave.

Weddings my part time job full time headache lol. Ok so I like shooting brides right up till the wedding day and there are half a dozen people trying to run a three ring circus in a venue where low lighting would be a pleasure.

It happens more than most would like to believe. I participate in an online forum that deals with inlaw/family issues... this is pretty common.

Along with bands what about events? Anything in your area like a 'Taste of ___' event, craft beer/bar events? festivals/fairs that include bands? oktoberfest? fireworks? outdoor summer concerts? Just spitballin' but sometimes those have bands playing at their event, maybe if that's what you love there could be similar/related events that might want to actually pay for photos for their sites, to use to promote next year's event, for coverage on a local community website, etc. Good bye weddings, hello 4th of July!

I can relate E. I shot a bunch of weddings as a second shooter years ago, and then a few on my own. NEVER. EVER. AGAIN. I honestly think I would sell body parts before I shot another wedding. NEVER. EVER. AGAIN. It gives me the shudders to even think about it.

To get into the **good** events, you have to have media backing. All other events want their sh*t for free, and I'm not playing that game. Not unless I see something of value coming from it, but more often than not it's just an invitation to come back again next year for free.

Concerts I'm cool with, straight up "insert theme here" events where the focus is not the band, but rather a product or something of the sort, I find just as boring as a wedding.

I'd rather just pick up extra hours at Apple and not have to sit and stare at 17,000 different varieties of beer on my screen while I force myself to edit the event, when there's a beautiful girl waiting for her portrait session back, that I'd rather be editing, hahaha.

Yeah, I should have stopped with my first wedding, because I had the same experience, hahaha.

My other weddings, it's not that they weren't satisfied... *I* wasn't satisfied.

I'm a control freak, and when the timeline gets all kinds of screwing and all the stuff we talked about and SAID was gonna happen... doesn't. That makes me insane. Frustratingly so.
