Think I'd try the Shadows/Highlights control on that if you've not already - might help balance the contrast out a little

All I did was crop and sharpen. Mainly because that is as it was shot. He is under the tree and flash would have scared him off.

I could lighten it but I feel it would just make the pic look invasive rather than a candid image of a squirrel in his natural habitat.

As for finding them .. no ... I ate then anty ... just kidding ... he saw a dog on a lead abd bolted for a tree .. sensible little thing
