What's new

OK Photoshop people....

Color curves is my guess. A soft light source also helped a lot. Background is clean, outfit (well, those shorts) matches the backdrop. It's just really good work.

I'll try and edit one of my photos to look like it and I'll let you know the steps I used.

This is what I've done... which isn't a good representation but I didn't have a shot that closely matched the examples.

Sorry for those giant images I posted, had to edit to fix.

I did this with layers.

1. Background copy layer, blended as 'screen' opacity 50%
2. Dark blue color fill layer set as 'exclusion' opacity 10%
3. Offwhite/pale subtle yellow color fill layer as 'multiply' opacity 50%
4. Light cyan color fill layer as 'color burn' opacity 60%
5. Light pale pink color fill layer, set as 'soft light' opacity 80%
6. Another background copy layer set as soft light, opacity 40%

If all else fails, you'll learn a thing or two about color fill layers and what they can do. Adjust the sliders to taste.

Might be worth looking for some free actions on the web that give a similar effect.

Where do you find free actions?? The ones I have found you have to pay for :/

deviantart.com has some great ones. Keep in mind that actions will look different depending on the colors and resolution. So its always best to learn how the action works.

I don't think there is a whole lot of "editing" going on.... Just looks like good full lighting and appropriate use of DOF and focus.

I love her. I hate her. haha Her photos are amazing!

low contrast, wide aperture lens, big light source

The photo's don't really scream 'edited' to me either. You don't have to edit to achieve those results. If they were edited, it'd be hard to pinpoint exactly what they did, without seeing the originals.

But in any case, if they were edited in PS, it doesn't really matter, because they were awesome shots before they were edited anyway. And nobody's going to take a shot like that and do any major editing anyway. It's just awesome photography.
