I am in the process of scanning some old 35mm slides from the 80's and have basically quality issues with all slides. I like to have the experts to have a look at the attached image. It's from the early 80's and I don't know what the problem is. Is it mold/fungi or cracked emulsion?
Film: unknown positive (not Kodachrome)
Scanner: Nikon Coolscan 5000
Mode: IDE, GEM etc. (all ON, slides are VERY faded)
It was stored in the basement for 20+ years, probably a bit humid there.
Is there any way to, well, make it better (I know perfect is not achievable). I try to rub some with a microfibre cloth but the change is only minor. Not tried other methods yet.
