The Nikon FM is a real workhorse. I know it's cheaper than FM2, but the good thing about it is that it can accept both non-AI and AI lenses; whereas FM2 can only accept AI lenses.

The same goes for the Nikon FE vs the FE2.

But, even better, the Nikkormat EL & EL2 can use both types of lens mounts and can meter both without the need to stop the lens down as the FM & FE need to do with non-AI lenses. The EL/EL2 cameras also have an auto exposure mode which can be used equally well with both types of lenses.

Thank you for your input. However, I still don't understand how EL2 can meter without stopping down with non-AI lenses, since it does not have a meter coupling pin for the rabbit ear on the lens.

Sorry, I meant the EL and the ELW, not the EL2.

I had a FM. It's hanging off my shoulder. It died.

I have an FM2 in the mail, but it was as cheap as an FM.. only because it's got a dead meter. I'm hoping I can fix it..

The FM is definitely a good buy though.
