Old Toys

Always wanted one but alas........then came digital.

This one came from a fellow camera club member a decade or so ago along with an early 35/2.8PC lens--both near mint from light use since the early '70s. Film loading is initially awkward since the entire back drops off(no film door)and gets replaced once the film is wound on--doubly awkward when shooting on a tripod since the camera must be removed for each new roll. Still, the use of ball bearings--and little if any lubricants--meant the titanium foil shutter train rarely gummed up. A friendly Nikon.ca tech went over it in 2018 and found the shutter speeds were correct and the centre-weighted meter still within original specs. He remarked that the brand-building reputation of the F series was the reason he had a job almost 60 years after its roll-out.
