Wow! What a difference indoors lowlight compared to my kit 18-55mm... Im so impressed at 1600 iso with the blinds closed during the day in Av the camera will shoot over 1/1000...

I'm sure most of you are thinking "calm down noob," but I am so stoked!!!

Oh and...

If you like that then wait till you get your first 2.8 tele. It's even more fun.

It is lovely, going from f/3.5 to f/1.8 is such a step up and the blurred background effects you can make with it are fantastic.
By the way: I'm not thinking "calm down noob", who doesn't get excited when they get a new lens.

Make sure you dont get infected with "shoot wide open all the time" virus... I know I did LOL. Close down the aperture when it is not necessary ;)

Crank it up a little bit. at around 2.8 it gets alot sharper. at F4 it is incredible.
for the money, you cant have better.

definitely the best lens for the price, hands down. Wish there were more good deal like it!

I took a comparison shot between the 18-55mm and the 50mm on a tripod same setting same light same subject. Ill put the unedited pics up later tonight.

It's exciting, I do agree with the person that said not to get carried about with shooting wide all the time.

I like the enthusiasm, you are having fun as you learn and that's the best way! Enjoy your new lens my friend.

lovin it man! thats gonna be my next purchase. I hear its the best bang for the buck. post some shots man

Where is the photo at 1/1000 i bet it was underexposed

Haha I can relate to that. Stepping up from the kit Canon 35-135mm to the Canon 85mm f1.8 was amazing, but the first photoshoot I did with a model I did in all f1.8. When I uploaded the pictures I realized that a lot of them had too shallow a DOF.

Hah, I was just reading a portraits magazine and I was like "yeap, a 50 mm will be my next purchase". I'll probably be just as excited too XD

I have had my Nikkor 50mm 1.8 for over a year now and I still get excited when I can take low lights with it. :) I recommend that lens for anyone who has DSLR. It is cheap, SHARP, and is amazing in low light. Congrats!!!

After reading this I have decided on my next lense.
